Ozone layer:- The ozone layer or ozone shield is a region of earth's stratosphere that absorbs most of the sun's ultraviolet radiation. It contains high concentration of ozone (O3) in relation to other parts of the atmosphere, although still small in relation to other gases in the stratosphere. The ozone layer contains less than 10 parts per million of ozone, while the average ozone concentration in Earth's atmosphere as a whole is about 0.3 parts per million. The ozone layer is mainly found in the lower portion of the stratosphere, from approximately 15 to 35 kilometers (9.3 to 21.7 mi) above Earth, although its thickness varies seasonally and geographically.
The Earth’s Ozone Layer Shows Improvement Amid Lockdown
As humans stay indoors, amid COVID-19 lockdown the earth’s ozone layer shows remarkable improvement, and the 1987 Montreal protocol deserves credit for it.
With more and more people staying indoors amid complete lockdown in light of the coronavirus outbreak, the situation is proving to be beneficial for the Earth’s ozone layer, and the 1987 Montreal protocolc be responsible for it.
As per a new study, the international cooperation on ozone-depleting chemicals is helping the southern jet stream return to its normal state, which has long been disrupted by human atrocities to the planet.
The southern jet stream, which is a powerful wind, shaping weather patterns and ocean currents, in the southern hemisphere, had been shifting from its usual course and moving towards Antarctic thereby impacting storm and rainfall in South America, East Africa and Australia.
New Data Show Air Pollution Drop Around 50 Percent In Some Cities During Coronavirus Lockdown
Air pollution in some cities is less than half what it was a year ago, according to new data from the satellite that has been documenting the impact of the coronavirus lockdown on air pollution across the world.
The corona virus has a broad social impact,” according to the dutch scientists. “The measures in a large part of the world lead, among other things, to a sharp reduction in road traffic, air traffic, shipping and industrial activities. This in turn leads to a reduction in emissions of climate pollutants, such as carbon dioxide and nitrogen dioxide. The decrease in the amount of air pollution goes hand in hand with the decrease in economic activity.”
This improvement in the ozone layer could bring a positive impact on various regions. For example, more rainfall in drought-hit areas.

Its good news for all human species ๐๐๐
